Good luck Emma!
Emma Marshall's Story
I'm taking on the Twickenham Zip Wire challenge at the Allianz Stadium to raise funds for Dementia UK.
Dementia affects millions of people across the UK, not only those living with the condition but also their families and loved ones who support them. Dementia UK's specialist nurses provide life-changing advice, guidance, and practical support for families facing the challenge of dementia, helping them navigate every stage of their journey with confidence and compassion.
Through their dedicated helpline, clinics and one-to-one support, Dementia UK ensures that no family has to face dementia alone.

Here We Go Again
Hi guys,
Well... here we go again!
After my epic 30-mile walk last year (which somehow ended up being 33 miles😅), I decided I wanted to do something again this year, this time for a different charity that is very close to my heart.
Dementia has impacted my family greatly, and some of my closest friends are living through the heartbreak of watching their parents, step-parents or loved ones battle the same disease.
It is incredibly difficult watching someone who has been such a huge part of your life for as long as you can remember slowly change. Watching them no longer remember who you are, lose pieces of themselves and become unable to do things they once did, like eating and drinking.
And then there is the guilt.
The constant feeling that you aren't doing enough. That somehow you should be able to make things better, even when you know you can't./ The heartbreak of seeing someone you love desperately trying to remember you, and the emotions that come flooding out when they don't.
The truth is you mourn them continuously while they're still here. You grieve the person they were, while trying to find a way to live in the moments you still have with them. They are constantly on your mind, and it can be incredibly hard to know what to say, what to do, or how to help.
So this year, I'm taking on a charity zipwire to raise awareness and, hopefully, reach my fundraising target to support this wonderful charity and the work they do for people living with dementia and their families.
Now, you might be thinking... a zip wire? That's not really much of a challenge, is it? And to be honest, I would probably agree with you. So, obviously, I decided to not make things that easy for myself; I managed to fall over and tear the ligaments in my ankle🤦♀️, meaning that just getting to the zip wire is now going to be part of the challenge¬
Then there's the small matter of the fact that I have apparently developed a terrifying fear of heights.
And finally, I have to go through this entire experience in front of the people I work with.
So, hopefully that's enough to encourage me to actually go through with it! 😂
I know things are tight for everyone at the moment, and I completely understand that not everyone is in a position to donate.
But if you can spare anything at all, no matter how small, I would be incredibly grateful.
And honestly, the messages that come along with the donations mean just as much to me as the money. They were literally what got me through my last charity challenge and kept a smile on my face when I was questioning exactly why I'd signed myself up for it!
So thank you for reading, thank you for your support, and thank you for every kind message and donation.
Wish me luck… I think I'm going to need it! ❤️
Thank you guys! xx
