Johanna's Big Ben to Royal Ascot Challenge - Walking 45km for Stroke Association
I'm taking on a tough but exciting challenge - walking 45km from the Iconic Big Ben in London to Royal Ascot - to raise vital funds for Stroke Association.
As a child and into my teens, I personally watched multiple strokes steal my late Grandad's quality of life over the course of about 10 years, taking his speech, his ability to swallow, and his mobility entirely. He was a legend, my legend, and a true hero saving multiple lives as a Deep Sea Rescue Diver in the Royal Navy in his prime. The stories he had to tell were nothing short of remarkable, but he didn't tell very many. I do not remember how his voice sounded before his first stroke.
Every five minutes, someone in the UK has a stroke. The effects can be life-changing, not just for the individual but for their families and loved ones too. Stroke Association is there for people when they need it most, offering emotional support, expert guidance through recovery, and funding vital research into treatment and prevention.
By supporting my fundraising page, you'll help to:
Provide life-changing support for stroke survivors.
Fund cutting-edge research.
Offer resources and advocacy for carers and families.
If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, your support will make a genuine difference in someone's recovery journey.
I'm doing this to remember my Grandad. And for every other little girl living through the effects a stroke can have on their legends.
Thank you 💜
