Well Done Zyg!
Zygmunt Day's Story
Two years after conquering the Three Peaks Challenge for the first time, I am returning for round two. It's a true clash of the titans - Zygmunt Day, PSCo LED Delivery Manager, 33 years old, versus three massive mountains, Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, 350 million years old, all of which must be climbed in 24 hours. Will I succeed? Yes. So please sponsor me to raise money for Cancer Research.
This extreme challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, within 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) - twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, over a similar total walking distance. The total driving distance is 462 miles.
We have 30 very brave participants taking part and each team member will be raising a minimum of £300 for their chosen ‘Gift of AV’ charity.
I'm aiming to raise £300 for Cancer Research UK - Many of our lives have been impacted by cancer, including my own, as my mum was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma when I was 7 years old. Thanks to research and pioneering treatment, she recovered 9 months later, and has been in remission ever since. By raising money for Cancer Research, we are helping to ensure that other families are able to see their loved ones recover from cancer and live full lives.
