Keep up-to-date on Karl's progress!

Walk to high lodge, extended edition.

Another training session complete, 16.6 miles out and back to high lodge, it’s amazing how many running routes I have in my brain are coming in handy 😀

Again a nice sunny day but not in an heat wave, a fleece was needed for this one, just need rain now to test the raincoat also!

This is all in preparation for the 24 mile Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in September, 17th.  It’s not tooo far away now and it’s not going to be an easy one, but it will be meaningful.

I’m going to try and complete the 3 peaks challenge in under 12 hours and raising monies for Cancer Research UK and every penny helps, if you would like to help me raise lots of money for them please do so via the sponsor page here.

Thank you 😁

Walking to Highlodge

So, I needed to find nice route that didn’t involve much road traffic and quickly begun to think if I could hike to highlodge?

Well, apparently I could and it would only be 6 miles… there, and not to mention the 6 miles back too!

This was great as it allowed me to try out some more food and drink strategy.  I was fortunate with the weather again, it was nice and not so nice sunny and warm which meant a quick pit stop at the info desk to get a top up of water before heading back home.

The training session was good and I managed to do a little diversion along the river on the way back through town making my entire journey the same distance as a half marathon, 13.1 miles (I did more than this but of course ;)) in an respectable 3h30 or there about, not too bad for a flatland walk… it’s not going to be that easy in September!

Now I just need to extend my miles, and find a few more hills to add to the mix.

To those who have already donated I thank you all, your support means a lot and goes a long way in helping cancer research uk but also means a lot to me also, thank you.

Let’s see if I can break the target goal for the charity! 😀

Training has started...

Q: What do did you do when you was on holiday? Relaxed? days out on the beach? sunbathed?
A: No.. I walked up mountains as training for an three peak challenge! :D

I spent a week in Yorkshire to test my legs at each of the mountains over the course of the week (I'm not that silly to attempt all 3 in one go! .. not on my own anyway!), the weather was kind but a little too windy to spend hours with the drone in the sky but what I got out of the experience was amazing and hopefully it reflects in the video I made.

I managed to climb each peak and test my strategy, it didnt go too well but it allowed me to try some things and work out what did.

What inspired me the most on my trip was when I met an 85 man who was walking 3 peaks that day!  His walking journey started a few years ago when his newly born grandson was diagnosed with an terminal illness, despite this the family has provided him a fun and exciting life and his granddad walked 4 peaks at the time to raise funds for future research to help others and has not stopped since.

In total that week I walked 21 miles up and over the peaks and had a good flavour of whats to come (its not going to be easy!), now I just need to test my legs for going the extra mile without a days rest in between!

Next up, a walk in the park.. well,  to High Lodge..
