John Storey's Story
On day one, our team of riders will complete a mammoth 79 miles setting off from Midwich Group HQ in Diss (Norfolk). The route will take us cross country, via Cambridge, eventually arriving at Sound Technology's HQ in Letchworth (Hertfordshire).On day two, we'll weave our way past some notable landmarks such as Windsor Castle before arriving at the finishing line at the Royal Ascot Racecourse having completed 56miles on day two. I've set a target of raising a minimum of £300 for chosen 'Gift of AV' charity, Mind (mind.org.uk).
In today's complicated world, around 1 in 4 people have mental health problems at some point in their lives, and most don't get the support they need. Mind is all about changing that by making mental health an everyday priority, and supporting people with information, advice and creating networks of people who can help each other.
I hope that this effort can help raise a bit of awareness (and a bit of cash!) for this oft overlooked charity.
1 in 4 people struggle with mental illness which means we all know someone who has suffered. Whether that be openly or, sadly, in private. This can unfortunately, sometimes, lead to devastating consequenses. It's so important that people have access to the correct support, which is where Mind come in. Mind's mission is to provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

My Training Plan
Training Plan? Well, not so much a "plan" as a vague set of good intentions... :-) The year started slowly, with a major DIY project robbing me of my prized Sunday morning outings. But I'm taking that as good early season 'core' training, all that sanding and stretching with an emulsion roller... Then summer came., and its been hard to grab a few consecutive dry hours between thunderstorms. So the miles are not accumulating as they should. However I've started planning longer routes, mainly based around refreshments, so I'm looking in good shape for the "King of the Café Stops" jersey. Finally I'm starting to get back into the habit of cycling into work on my fixed-gear bike, and I can already feel the difference in my legs. Well done Datapath for providing great bike storage and changing rooms. With the Tour De France finishing today in Paris, its hard not to look forward to the next Grand Tour - the Tour De AV!100% of target reached!
